The pitch was simple: an comedic online video series for Great Northern Brewing Co. styled as a mockumentary following the flocks of southerners migrating north for warmer pastures and cold beers. The secret sauce? Broden Kelly of Aunty Donna fame as the documentarian — Now that’s a recipe for comedy.
It was a delight to work with Asahi’s in-house agency 1House to bring this campaign to life, collaborating with their talented creative team and producer Tim Carroll. We worked with them through the final stages of development, helping elevate their comedic ideas wherever possible and into pre-production, finding an efficient way to deliver as much great quality material as possible within their budget.
Partnering with our friends at Shortstack Productions to produce this work, cinematographer Dave Aponas crafted a wonderfully authentic documentary style that could deliver online video content that would work across horizontal and vertical formats, with key release for TikTok and secondary release across Instagram and YouTube.
Our in-house director Tony Walsh dusted off his online video sketch comedy hat, took the reins with the calm assuredness of an old cowboy and steered the wagon clean and true, delivering half a dozen sketches and 9 shorts across two days.
The online video campaign was a massive success, resulting in hundreds of thousands of views, an 11% sales increase during release and taking home a ton of awards, including:
